AC/DC have released a new video for ‘Demon Fire’, from the band’s latest chart topping album ‘Power Up’.
The album reached number 1 in 18 countries, including the UK where it gained 62,000 chart sales, making the band comfortably overtake the UK’s previous fastest selling album of 2020, which was Kylie Minogue’s “Disco” that racked up 55,000 chart sales just a week previous.
‘Power Up’ is the bands fourth UK number one, and the band’s first UK number one album since their soundtrack album ‘Iron Man 2 – OST’ a decade ago. The band have previously also hit the top of the charts with 1980s ‘Back In Black’ and 2008’s ‘Black Ice’.
With the release of the new album the band have become the first and only Australian group to have had a No.1 album in their home country across five decades: “Back In Black” (1980s), “Ballbreaker Live” (1990s), “Black Ice” (2000s), “Rock Or Bust” (2010s) and “Power Up” (2020s).
The new album has also made its way to No. 1 in the US’ Billboard 200 chart, shifting 117,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release. 111,000 equates to album sales, with an additional 5,000 being streaming equivalent albums (SEA) units (equalling 7.8 million on-demand streams); and 1,000 were track equivalent albums (TEA) units (10,000 track downloads).
Celebrating the chart topping album, Angus Young said “A very big thank you to everyone who put in their time, effort and creativity to get ‘Power Up’ to No. 1! Also a big shoutout to all our fans, old and new. You are, and always have been, our guiding inspiration.”
The album is a tribute to Angus’ brother, former rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young.
The new album can be ordered here. The band will be releasing various versions of the album including a Picture-Disc Vinyl, Silver Vinyl, 4 different colour cassettes, and more.
