A rare 7″ vinyl demo of David Bowie is set to go under the hammer later this week. The vinyl features a demo of a previously unreleased track ‘Run Piper Run’ from the late singer/songwriter.
The vinyl features David Bowies ‘Run Piper Run’ on side-a, which was recorded in 1967, and the is backed on the b-side by ‘Lay Your Head Upon My Shoulder’ by The Move co-founder Ace Kefford. ‘Lay Your Head Upon My Shoulder resurfaced on the 2003 album Ace (The Lost 1968 Tapes).
The rare disc is set to head to auction on Friday (Jan 15th) at the Wessex Auction Rooms, with online bidding starting at 10.30am BST. The vinyl is estimated to fetch between £6,000 and £8,000. In July 2020, an unreleased Bowie demo of ‘Do Believe I Love You’ sold for £18,000 at the Wessex Auction Rooms. Check out this snippet of the vinyl in action:
Friday’s auction will also feature many other bit’s of Rock history including a set of seven Sex Pistol original singles pressings, a signed CD box set of the Ramones ‘We’re Outta Here’, and a signed copy of ‘Tommy Gun’ by The Clash.
