Angelus Apatrida have been producing Thrash Metal bangers for over 20 years and the band show no signs of slowing down. They recently released there Self Titled album which we reviewed here! The band continue to grow in popularity and to always push the boundaries of what you can expect from a thrash metal band. I have been lucky enough to interview the band’s vocalist and guitarist Guillermo Izquierdo. Here’s how it went!

Hope you, your friends, and family have been okay over the course of the pandemic.

Guillermo: “Thank you, yeah all good so far, I hope the same for you!”

Thank you, everything’s been good here. How have the current restrictions (Due to covid-19) affected you guys as a band?

Guillermo: “Pretty bad actually. This is our full time job and touring (and selling merchandising) is the main incoming for a band like us. Not begin for almost one year is devastating economically (and psychologically) all of us, hopefully we can start touring asap and solve the economical situation of the company.”

I think we’d all love touring to get back soon! How was it recording an album during the pandemic? Was much different about the process?

Guillermo: “Not much, we always compose and record the same way. Iā€™d say that this time we had much more time to focus only in writing new music and producing the album; in normal situation we are touring so we donā€™t have much time to focus only in this, so it was at least a good thing of being in lockdown, we could use 100% of the time for writing new music.”

What has the reception been like for your recently released self-titled album?

Guillermo: “Well, the feedback both from fans and the media is really really good. We are overwhelmed about the great reactions so far and the album is selling pretty fast! Also itā€™s begin played more than ever on streaming platforms, we are really happy about this.”

With the current global situation, what can we expect from you guys after the album drops?

Guillermo: “Until the situation goes to a complete normality, we are planning some shows in big venues in Spain, with covid measures, you know, social distancing and health measures, at least we will be able to reactivate the activity and the economy of the band and start working, we canā€™t wait for that to happen.”

2020 marked 20 years of the band, did you have anything special planned for the impressive anniversary?

Guillermo: “Not much, really, we were ā€œcelebratingā€ it when we were on tour in March 2020 and the rest of what happened is nothing to celebrate. Letā€™s say that we [had] a great birthday present with this new album, and letā€™s go for at least another 20 more!”

What was it like performing on the metal alliance stream back in august?

Guillermo: “It was really fun and cool! We had a great time doing this, it was really nice to play together again after the lockdown and we have the chance to show our music to a lot of new people who never listened to us; we gained a lot of fans and it was a cool thing!”

What inspired you guys to release your own craft beer give ’em hops?

Guillermo: “We are beer lovers, we have craft beer since 2011 or so, been releasing different ones. This time our friends in Greyhound Brewers came with this cool new Double NEIPA, tasty as fuck, we love beer and we love to have our own beer!”

Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions.

Guillermo: “Thanks to you for your time!”
