The Nominees for the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame have been announced, including Foo Fighters, Iron Maiden, Rage Against The Machine, and more.
The full shortlist includes the three aforementioned Rock and Metal titans plus Mary J. Blige, Kate Bush, Devo, The Go-Go’s, Jay‑Z, Chaka Khan, Carole King, Fela Kuti, LL Cool J, New York Dolls, Todd Rundgren, Tina Turner, and Dionne Warwick.
Artists become eligible for the nomination, by the Rock Hall, after 25 years since the release of their first official recording – That means for this year 1995 or before.
“This remarkable ballot reflects the diversity and depth of the artists and music the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame celebrates,” says John Sykes, Chairman of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “These Nominees have left an indelible impact on the sonic landscape of the world and influenced countless artists that have followed them.”
Since some of the band’s line-up have changed over the years not all members would get the inducted. For Iron Maiden, All current members, including Bruce Dickinson, Steve Harris, Nicko McBrain, Adrian Smith, Dave Murray, and Janick Gers would be inducted along with former members Paul Di’Anno, Clive Burr and Dennis Stratton.
Similarly, all six of the current Foo Fighters line-up would be inducted, including Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Rami Jaffee, Pat Smear, and Chris Shiflett. However, original drummer William Goldsmith, along with former guitarist Franz Stahl would not.
For Dave Grohl, this will be the second time available to enter the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, given that he was also inducted in 2014 with Nirvana.
