Just 2,500 Chart Sales Seperate Top 5 In Midweek Charts

Just 2,500 chart sales seperate the entire UK’s Top 5 in the midweek charts. The news comes as Maxïmo Park sit at number 1 in the UK midweeks charts.

Maxïmo Park’s seventh album, ‘Nature Always Wins’, is on course to be the band’s first Top 10 album in seven years, and their highest charting since 2007’s ‘Our Earthly Pleasures’ peaked at Number 2 on the Official Albums Chart.

In a Twitter post on Sunday night, Mogwai frontman Stuart Braithwaite – current owner of the UK’s #1 album with ‘As The Love Continues’ – was the first to tweet and rally people around the hashtag #MaximoPark4Number1. A week after Mogwai’s historic chart feat it marks something of a revolution in the way indie artists are embracing the All-In-This-Together spirit, as they battle the twin forces of the pandemic and Brexit.

The band are set to play a live streamed show from The Riverside, Newcastle, which will take place on Saturday March 6th at 8:30pm GMT. Fans can get tickets for the event here.

Metalcorers Architects are just behind Alice Cooper, and are on track to score their first UK top 10 album with ‘For Those That Wish To Exist’ – which currently sits at number 3. The band’s latests effort has also taken in the most downloaded album across the weekend. Check out our review of Architects ‘For Those That Wish To Exist’ here. Number 4 and 5 in the midweek are London rapper Digga D, and Buxton singer-songwriter Lucy Spraggan.
