Endseeker is back with their new album ‘Mount Carcass’. The German band are growing at an unprecedented rate for a band in the Death Metal genre, and the hype around the new release has been unprecedented. Releasing through Metal Blade, the group are looking to skyrocket their current momentum, and with the attention the two singles have already received, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to seeing what these guys have to offer. I won’t ramble on any more, so here are my thoughts of Endseeker’s ‘Mount Carcass’.

How else would you start an album titled ‘Mount Carcass’ than with a no-nonsense assault of riffs and blast beats! ‘Unholy Rites’ Both Ben and Jury are capable of playing at blistering speeds which helps the band to generate their unique sound. Kummer on the drums is an absolute beat with some of the quickest phrases you’ll hear period. The onslaught of noise doesn’t just end there however. ‘Merciless Tide’ may slow down the pace but it packs just as much of a punch. Lenny’s eccentric vocals shine throughout this track. This track will have you banging your head along to every beat without fail. Such a catchy beat is laid down by Kummer and Eggert. A solid start to the new album from Endseeker!

Following that is the emphatic ‘Bloodline’. The extreme metal undertones come out to play during this one and I’m here for it. If your a casual fan of Black Metal (Not you Trve Kvlt guys) then I’d highly recommend this one to you. The band have fine-tuned their sound and been able to implement things from many genres to help them to stand out from the pact. On the other hand ‘Mount Carcass’ doesn’t have the same impact as the songs prior. The song sounds cluttered and manages to feel off-tempo despite it not going out of time. How they have managed that is beyond me however it doesn’t do much in terms of making me want to add this song to my daily rotation.

Up next is ‘Count the Dead’, The second single from the album that’s done the best out of the two singles dropped. I must say I don’t understand why that’s the case in all honesty. The song feels generic and lacks any real impact in my opinion. I will assume I’m in the minority of that opinion though considering most fans have seemed to express their pleasure with the song in question. To each their own I guess.

Thankfully, ‘Cult’ quickly won me over. Right from the off I found myself hooked on the riffs throughout the track and some of the drum fills scattered throughout the track are just awesome to hear. A much more enjoyable listen and it may even be my top track from the record! Luckily ‘Moribund’ keeps the album on track and delivers a fresh dose of modern death metal. Once again, Lenny’s vocals stand out and allow this song to shine. Plus the phrase between 1:58 and 2:20 is one of the coolest sections I’ve heard from a band like this. Top-Notch song!

The penultimate song ‘Frantic Redemption’ does a great job of setting the album up for one hell of a finale. Some of the bands best technical playing is on display throughout this piece of music. Who says heavy music has to just be open notes and palm mutes! Unlike The Wombats, Endseeker would rather be ‘Escaping from New York’ rather than moving to it. This track is just a beast of a track. Heavy riffs and heavier drumming culminates in a no-nonsense Death Metal instrumental that sends the album off perfectly.

Endseeker may not be the biggest band in the genre however they certainly pack a punch! The album has its flaws however the sheer amount of energy and passion on display throughout the tracks has left a lasting impression on me. I cannot wait to see what the band has in store over the next few years and I’d highly recommend keeping these guys on your radar!
