Last weekend, Blossoms took to Sefton Park to play 5,000 capacity sold-out government gig pilot with no masks, or social distancing.
The gig required everyone attending the event to have a negative covid test before entering the venue, which allowed those attending to enjoy themselves like it was 2019 again. The event saw the band supported by Zuzu and The Lathums. The whole event provides great hope for the future of live music to go ahead with no distancing or mask-wearing.
In a new interview with the band at the event, NME asked about the state of the band’s fourth album, Tom Ogden replied, “Yeah, we’ve done it”.
He went on to say “So it’s recorded, and we’ve sorted all the other stuff out now, like the artwork, the videos, all that kind of stuff. But because we’ve had more time, I feel we’ve had a bit more time to finesse that side of it, which I feel we haven’t had in the past. I feel it’s going to be a really special album”
Bandmate Joe Donovan jumps into add “Trying not to listen to it, to not get bored of it before it’s out *laughs*”
“Yeah give it a rest for a bit” Tom agrees.
NME went on to ask what sort of direction the new albums going musically. To which Joe Donovan replies “I’d say it’s like an extension of ‘Foolish Loving Spaces’ in some ways”
