Following a few months of teasing from the band, Biffy Clyro have confirmed that they’ve finished work “last week” on their upcoming “sister record” to A Celebration Of Endings.

On the red carpet at the BRIT awards, the trio – who were nominated for British Group but lost out to Little Mix – told NME that their new album should be “hopefully out in October”.
“You know I told you we had four records coming?” Simon asked. The NME interviewer replied “A commemoration of commiserations, correct?”
“The title has changed” Simon laughed. “We got to keep it top secret at the moment, but yeah, we finished it literally last week. We weren’t intending on doing it, we were hoping that things were maybe a bit further on, but we’ve ended up making… an amazing record.”
When asked if it still felt like a sister record to the last one, the frontman said “Originally it was going to be completely hand-in-hand, they do relate, but because we didn’t tour I ended up writing about seven or eight new songs for the album. Originally it was intended to be a few off-cuts from A Celebration Of Endings, but it’s basically brand new music now, we got wonderful new art and it’s kind of its own beast. The lyrics kind of correspond at certain points in the album… There’s lots of easter eggs for fans, but it’s a proper record.”
Talking about what the record is about, the band said “It’s about that reflection of how you can experience the same thing but react in a completely different way. We’ve all had this huge global similar experience, but we’ve not had the same experience for many, many reasons – and I feel that’s what the record is about. It’s about the aftermath of coming through something together, but you can’t completely comprehend what someone else is going through… But it’s like trying to make the best of that. It’s still a fairly positive outlook, with a whole shit-ton of bonemarrow nihilism as with all Biffy stuff.”
