LA Metalcore group SeeYouSpaceCowbow and Post-Hardcore outfit If I Die First have dropped a collaborative Ep titled ‘A Sure Diaster’. The announcement was met with scepticism and I for one was certainly intrigued as to how these two bands would synergize so without further delay, here are my thoughts on their collaborative EP ‘A Sure Disaster’.
Starting by making me feel like we’re back in the myspace era of song titles, ‘Painting a Clear Picture from an Unreliable Narrator’ turns the dial up to 11 right off the bat. Theirs no easing listened in with this track as the all-out assault of blast beats and riffs consume your headspace. The song is a tonne of fun and features some gnarly moments that will have you wanting to crowd kill your cat in your living room. That’s certainly one way of opening the EP.
Continuing the carnage is the track ‘Modernizing the Myth of Sisyphus’. Nothing is off-limits for these two bands and that makes for one hell of a listening experience. The song is short yet full of energy. From the contrasting vocal styles to the sheer level of intensity on display throughout, This song is bloody awesome!
When ‘bloodstainedeyes’ dropped, it had fans losing their minds and for good reason. This song steals the show on all levels. It highlights both bands styles exceptionally well and blends them in an almost perfect way. If you somehow haven’t got round to listening to this track yet, I highly recommend you make it the next song you listen to.
The EP may only be three tracks long but it is an extremely memorable experience. Fans of both SeeYouSpaceCowboy and If I Die First will have an absolute blast while listening to these songs. As far as collaborations go, this is certainly fresh out of the top drawer. Amazing stuff from both bands!
