A recent survey conducted by Pollstar and VenuesNow, shows promising results for live music’s return. In the new survey 1,350 live industry professionals were asked a range of questions about the future of live events, and 54% think things will be back to capacity by 2021.

However, an additional 30.6% feel that concerts won’t be back to Full Capacity until at least 2022.

The 1,350 surveyed industry professionals contained 24% from concert venues, 17% promoters or talent buyers, 16% in production, and 11% who had “hybrid” job titles.

The participants were also asked if they would personally work a show or embark on a tour, if it were to occur now. 42,9% replied Yes but only with health guidelines.

Something most of these participants agreed on, is that the government has not done enough. 75.2% don’t feel the government has “given proper consideration to the plight of the sports and live entertainment industry as compared to other impacted industries such as airlines, hotels, restaurants/retail.”

Ray Waddell, president of OVG Media & Conferences said “We embarked on this survey project with the goal of taking the pulse of an industry that has not only been hammered by the pandemic like few others, but also to discover their views on the social unrest from their unique perspective as purveyors of the cultural touchstone that is live entertainment,”

Obviously the results of this survey should be taken with a grain of salt, but it does shine a light on a promising future for live music, and lots in the industry seem to be keen to get back understandably.
