Alt-rock quintet, Chapter and Verse, have released a new single ‘After Midnight’ alongside a new tour announcement, that’ll see the band take their music across the UK.
“When we went into lockdown last year I suddenly found myself with all this time on my hands and really felt the pressure to make the most of it.” Vocalist Josh Carter said. “I absolutely tore through work and was writing music day and night until I nearly completely burnt out. One evening my fiance & I started watching old festival highlights over a few drinks and it turned into an all-nighter. It was the first time in ages that I properly let my hair down and even though it was just the two of us in our living room I had the absolute best time!”
The new song ‘After Midnight’ saw the band writing and recording during lockdown, forcing the quintet to work in a new way. Throwing ideas around from home which usually they’d take into the studio but, given the current situation, they had to be patient and play remote musical tennis with each other.
“Musically, ‘After Midnight’ is one of our more guitar-driven songs.” guitarist Ash Morton explains. “Josh and I had a lot of fun playing with diverse tones and I think that variation keeps it interesting. There’s also some subtle pop production in there which hopefully people will start to hear after repeat listens. But overall it’s a big old rock song and we can’t wait to deafen you with it at a live show!”

Over their lockdown, the band have used a WhatsApp group (Called The New Breed) to connect with their fans like never before and they plan on expanding this amazing tool to give fans “the ultimate experience”.
Josh adds “None of us knew what was going to happen with the pandemic or when it might end, so we spent the first few months working just as furiously as normal. However when we realised that we were all in for the long haul we took a step back and decided to slowly try and fine tune our craft. We chat as a group practically every day and are constantly throwing ideas in and out to stay creative and keep our heads above water.”
He continues “Whilst it’s been tough for many people, the pandemic gave us the time to reevaluate and in a certain sense to rediscover what we love about being a band. You don’t know what you’ll miss until it’s taken away from you and we’ve re-entered the music world with a new sense of enjoyment.”
Anyone who has signed up to the bands WhatsApp ‘New Breed’ group will be part of the broadcast list for exclusive content, first-listens, pre-sales and much more.
