Bloodstock Open Air will return to Catton Park in less than a month with an incredible lineup to boot, the festival has had to announce a last-minute change. Sacred Reich will unfortunately no longer be able to attend the heavy metal festival however, they have been replaced with Reading-based Sylosis who will take to the main stage on Saturday.
Sylosis have been a force in the UK Thrash metal scene ever since dropping their esteemed EP’s ‘ Casting Shadows’ and ‘The Supreme Oppressor’ in 2006 and 2007. With the hype around these releases the band signed with Nuclear Blast Records in December 2007 and released their debut album ‘Conclusion Of An Age’ in October 2008.
The band would go on to release 3 more albums between 2008 and 2015 however the band announced a hiatus in October 2016. The cause of this break was that frontman Josh Middleton would be filling in on guitar for British metalcore band Architects as Tom Searle sadly passed away. After touring for 11 months with the band, he would later announce he would be joining the band permanently however promised he would still remain in Sylosis.
In December 2019, Sylosis announced an end to the hiatus and would reveal their 5th studio album titled Cycle Of Suffering which was released in February 2020. Since then the band have released one new single from an upcoming album still yet to be announced. The single titled ‘Immovable Stone’ has received a lot of fanfare for the band and the excitement around them only seems to be growing.
The festival will be headlined by Behemoth, Mercyful Fate (On their only UK Show), and Lamb Of God as well as having an incredibly strong lineup throughout the week. The festival will have 4 days of music on the Sophie Lancaster Stage while the main stage is open from Friday. With bands such as Gwar, Lorna Shore, and Venom Inc all gracing the sacred grounds over the weekend. It is sure to be one for the history books!
Tickets for the festival are still available and you can bag yourself some here! Bloodstock is set to take place from the 11th of August to the 14th of August and will showcase a wide variety of styles from the metal scene.
