The first edition of Lume Fest isn’t that far away now and as the tickets are flying out the door for a day of exciting alternative music in Camden, we thought it would be a great idea to explore one of the festival’s core values. Diversity! The event is set to host a plethora of Female and Non Binary inclusive bands which is something some major festivals have come under fire against due to the lack of acknowledgement of these amazing acts.
The festival is split between three of Camden’s most notorious venues, The Underworld, The Black Heart, and The Camden Eye. The smallest of the three stages is in The Camden Eye where you will find the Intimate Stage. Opening this stage is Neversaid. An exciting band that brings a tonne of charisma and passion to the lineup. This is also the first act to feature both a Non-Binary member in their vocalist Logan and a female bassist in Emmie! Following them will be the female-fronted melodic metal band San Demas! With inspiration from the likes of Paramore and The Used, these guys promise to bring the energy to the early comers of the festival!
Across the street is where you will find the second stage at The Black Heart! This is the beating heart of Camden’s rock and metal scene for new and exciting bands to showcase their talents. Lume Fest will be no exception to this rule as they have put together a stacked lineup for the iconic pub venue which will be headlined by the unforgiving Graphic Nature! Earlier in the day you will be able to catch the Charismatic Lizzy Farrall from Chester. If songs that are written from real experiences and honest opinions are your thing then you have to get down to The Black Heart to catch her set which kicks off at 16:30!
The main stage down in the Underworld is where you will find the most diversity however! Headliners Dream State are one of the most exciting female-fronted bands in the UK alternative metal scene at the moment. Their unique blend of metal and synth generates a really engaging sound that is quite unlike anything else in the scene at the moment. As well as this, the stage will host a handful of female-inclusive bands such as melodic grungers Snake Eyes (See our thoughts on their ‘skeletons’ EP here), the ever-mysterious Delaire The Liar and the explosive Lake Malice as well as an appearance from the eccentric yet commanding Bambie Thug! A tonne of Female and Non Binary representation is a welcome addition to the Rock and Metal scene and is something that should have been better represented a lot sooner!
If this is something you’d be interested in witnessing, why not grab yourself a ticket here! Don’t wait around however as tickets are flying out with only a limited number being left available! Lume Fest promises to be a safe space for all walks of life with a soundtrack composed of each and every culture available to it!
