While She Sleeps Announce First Ever Vinyl Pressing For ‘This Is The Six’

Ahead of their biggest ever headline show at Alexandra Palace on September 23rd, Sheffield metalcore group While She Sleeps have just announced that their debut album ‘This Is The Six’ will receive its first ever vinyl release via Music For Nations on September 22nd.

The album – that was originally released in 2012 – saw While She Sleeps first steps to fulfil the immense potential that they had demonstrated with their previous EP ‘The North Stands For Nothing’. Infusing their visceral, ferocious metal and hardcore roots with an innate ability to appeal to a broader audience, the record set the band on the path to where they are today.

Following it’s release the band toured with the likes of Architects, Parkway Drive, and Asking Alexandria, and won the prestigious Kerrang! Award for Best British Newcomer. Since it’s release fans haven’t forgetten about with album, with a number of tracks from it remaining fan favourites to this day, including ‘Seven Hills’, the title track, ’Our Courage, Our Cancer’, and ‘False Freedom’.

The album is set to be pressed to 180 gram white vinyl and packaged in a gatefold sleeve, and is avaible to pre-order now here.

Remanicing about the making of the album, Mat Welsh said “Stepping into a ‘real’ studio to record your first full-length album is a feeling I’ll never forget. The writing process was a blur, a mix of excitement and anxiety on how to follow ‘The North Stands For Nothing’EP, with the first full-length album, released on a major label and on a level we’d never experienced before. We met with Carl Bown (who we are still working with 12 years later) and Colin Richardson to make the record, they had a history of amazing albums.”

Going on to say “We threw everything we had into it, with no boundaries. Writing like our lives depended on it. We’ve always been searching to create music that fills our own personal void, the music we’re searching for but can’t find. I feel like we achieved that, it sounded like the five of us and this collection of music has made us who we are. It doesn’t sound like anyone else and it’s an essential part of why we’re still here today.”

Since the release of ‘This Is The Six’, While She Sleeps albums have gone from strength-to-strength, including a Top 10 breakthrough with ‘You Are We’ as well as widespread critical acclaim for their most recent album, ‘Sleeps Society’, which included guest appearances from members of Biffy Clyro, Sum 41 and Enter Shikari.

Very limited tickets remain available here for While She Sleeps’ Alexandra Palace show. They will then play select shows around Europe before hitting China, Japan, Taiwan and Thailand in December.
