Live Review: Lorna Shore – Pain Remains World Tour – O2 Academy Leeds

If you are a fan of the heavier things in life than chances are you’ve heard of the monumental rise of Lorna Shore. Yet another tour of the UK has resulted in a sell out as fans can’t quite seem to get enough of the Deathcore outfit from America. Bringing a stacked lineup of Distand, Ingested, and Rivers Of Nile, these shows promised to be nothing short of stellar! Here’s what went down!

Distant would kick things off in an emphatic way! Bringing an incredibly heavy sound to the heart of Leeds riled up the audience with pits breaking out almost instantly. The opener of a 4 band lineup can rarely have such a vivid reaction from the crowd however Distant got mosh pits, crowd surfers and pure chaos which set the tone beautifully for the rest of the evening’s proceedings.

Slampions from Slamchester, Ingested, would hit the stage next and these guys never disappoint! Brutal riffs and ungodly vocals echoed around the Leeds Academy as an all-out war unfolded on the dancefloor. Unleashing a more modern setlist, Ingested ensured that those who hadn’t heard of them before this evening would remember them and those who already knew them would love them even more! Unrelenting aggression encouraged unconditional moshing!

The final warm-up band came in the form of Rivers Of Nile, and their unique death metal sound went down well with the crowd. Not ones for flashy stage theatrics, the band focused purely on their sound and as a result quickly won over the more due hard fans in the audience. Heads banged, and Leeds Academy was truly warmed up for what was about to unfold.

Kings of modern deathcore Lorna Shore would take to the stage to the sounds of ‘Welcome Back, O’ Sleeping Dreamer’ and the stage would ignite with smoke and sparks. Otherworldly growls amped up the crowd as the band bombarded them with songs such as ‘Of The Abyss’ and ‘…And I Return To Nothingness’. A sea of crowd surfers braved the treacherous seas of a sold-out Leed Academy while those wanting a safer voyage banged their heads to the sides and back.

A set predominantly full of the band’s newer material went down a treat with those in attendance however the inclusion of ‘Immortal’ seemed to be a pleasant surprise to many in the venue. The carnage wasn’t done yet as the band dropped the jaw-dropping ‘Into The Earth’ before closing their main set with the viral sensation that is ‘To The Hellfire’.

That wouldn’t be the final hoorarh as Lorna Shore would take to the stage once more to deliver a stellar performance of the ‘Pain Remains’ Trilogy. During this singer Will Ramos stopped the song abruptly to ensure a fan was okay, and reminded fans that this was “where we all come to release everything, but most importantly no one [should be] getting hurt at [Lorna Shores] shows.” Even when you are dropping some extremely heavy tracks, it’s always nice to know that the band don’t want you actually killing each other! They would resume the song once more to the pleasure of the fans and the visual of the band performing in snow will never get old! What a way to end a show.

Lorna Shore seem to just be getting better each time they come back to the UK. Their stage production is one of the best I’ve ever seen from a deathcore band and their energy on stage is simply unrivaled. The sky truly is the limit for these boys!
