With the release of their latest album ‘Dark Rainbow’, a new era of Rattlesnakes is here. The new release has seen a more self-reflective side from Frank and co that past albums haven’t seen. With the band touring the UK to celebrate its release we had to head down to London’s Roundhouse to see how the band would bring it to life. Here’s what went down.

As Frank and Co came out to the thunderous applause, the bands new look cermented the new Rattlesnakes era. Frank adorning Slicked back hair, and a white suit with a red flower on the appel, whilst the rest of the band wore variations of black suits. You’d be mistaken for thinking you’d walked into a Artic Monkeys show rather than the sweaty punk rock shows of Franks past.

And this vibe would continue as the music began, with the band starting with ‘Can I Take You Home’. Thankfully it wouldn’t be long until the band started throwing some of the older fan favourites into the room, with ‘The Devil Inside Of Me’ quickly followed by ‘Kitty Sucker’, both of which garnered big mosh pits.

The band also made a point of promoting inclusivity and safety at their gigs, especially for the women in the audience. For ‘Wild Flowers’, they dedicated the song to the ladies and asked the men to leave the pit. When some of them didn’t comply, Frank stopped the song and called them out, making sure they got the message. The band then resumed the song, giving the women a chance to rock out without any hassle.

As the main set came to a close with ‘End of Suffering’ it was clears fans needed more, and the band would come back and deliver with Frank stating not to “take the next song personally” with ‘I Hate You’ which turned the crowd into a choir throughout, word for word backing and even taking over from the band at times. The band finished up with one last trip under the ‘Dark Rainbow’ with ‘Man of the Hour’.

A new era of Rattlesnakes is here, and it’s here for good, and with it comes a maturing for the band. More reflective moments integrated into the band’s usually rough and ready punk stylings well.
