That’s it! 2022 has been and gone. Last year was one hell of a year for the Rock and Metal music scene! While making my shortlist for the best albums of 2022 I ended up with almost 50 different albums that I needed to cut down to this top 10, so it’s safe to say this was no easy feat this year. So many bands captured the hearts and minds of fans around the world this year, but unfortunately they can’t all make the final cut. Here are my top 10 albums of 2022!
A heavy-hitting and gritty album that further solidified Motionless in White’s place near the top of their scene. This album captures their iconic sound and further adapts it to give off a fresh yet familiar sound.Â
Ska Punk has certainly been on the up once again over recent years and The Interrupters have been leading the charge. Despite not being as full throttle as their previous album ‘Fight The Good Fight’, this record still packs quite the punch!
Matt Heafy has been going on about this project for what felt like an eternity so for it to finally drop and it be some of his finest work to date makes it all the more special. There are still rock and metal outlets posting about this record so it fully deserves its place on this list.
Erebos is one of those albums you know will go down in history for the band. A new chapter has begun for Venom Prison and their gritty and Aggressive blend of music has helped further their push to death metal stardom!
Malevolence seems to be everywhere as of late, an unrelenting tour cycle matched with a stacked festival season meant they were able to get their name out there as much as possible. Thankfully, their latest album has sent shockwaves through the metal scene and it seems as though the only way is up for Malevolence!
This album was an absolute treat when it dropped earlier this year, and many more people are getting to experience the joy that is ‘The Death Of Peace Of Mind’ thanks to the single ‘Play Pretend’ seemingly blowing up overnight on TikTok. Either way, the band deserves all the attention they are currently getting!
Further pushing themselves into the unknown, Boston Manor dropped what may be their most experimental album to date and it is one that really captured the essence of the band as a whole. A tonne of diversity in just 7 tracks makes for an incredible listening experience!
Love them or hate them, Lorna Shore may be one of the fastest-growing bands in the Deathcore scene at the moment and their first full-length release with Will Ramos at the helm is one that blew a tonne of doubters away. Heavy as hell yet surprisingly emotional, Pain Remains may be the record that launches the band to a whole new level!
From the uncertainty of the band’s future after Catharsis, Machine Head have bounced back by releasing one of their strongest albums to date. This concept album tells a remarkably strong story while also bringing that unrelenting grit you have come to love from the band.
I don’t think I have a single negative thing to say about this album. Electric Callboy has really taken the scene by storm with its blend of brutal metal and electronic music. The entire album feels like a party and makes you want to dance like no one’s watching. Not to mention just how well the band has done capturing the party feel when they drop these songs at their shows!
