2000 trees has returned for the first time since 2019, with its lineup boasting headliners such as Jimmy Eat World, Turnstile, Thrice, Idles, and You Me At Six -enabling the festival to be a complete sell out this year! It promises to be a weekend of excitement, partying, and a celebration of live music. Here’s what went down Thursday night at 2000 Trees!

Just walking into the site had a really special feel to it this year. Many fans have had tickets for the event since 2019, and the excitement surrounding the festival was clear from the off. Our day was kick-started by Crashface who brought their eccentric blend of metal to the NEU stage early in the morning. Following this was Phoxjaw who made sure everyone at the main stage was wide awake with their impactful performance – despite a broken string mid set. As the day went on, fans of all genres were treated to an insanely diverse lineup.

A special stage at 2000 Trees is The Forest stage which allows bands to deliver a much more unique set for their fans. Bands such as Beans On Toast and Swim School had the pleasure of performing on this incredible stage deep in the heart of the festival. The big draw to this stage on Thursday was an early intimate set from Anti-Flag – the first of two memorable sets throughout the day. As the day went on and the sun shone brighter, the band’s coming up only raised the bar of what to expect. Creeper’s return to 2000 Trees saw a huge turnout with the band teasing a special one off show later this year (their biggest headline show to date). At the end of their set an older gentleman came onstage warning the crowd that “under any circumstances, you must not attend the show at the Roundhouse November 4th”.

Anit-Flag closed out the second stage, which couldn’t be more fitting with the news of Boris Johnson’s resignation. Justin hinted at the fact that “As soon as they arrived in the UK, he resigned” to which Chris responded “In other words, you’re fucking welcome!” to a huge applause. Despite having to stop their set briefly to tend to an injured fan, the band quickly got back on track with a mashup of Punk songs featuring the likes of ‘Should I Stay Or Should I Go’, ‘Blitzkrieg Bop’, ‘Longview’ and many more.

Headlining the day was Jimmy Eat World who put on a decent discography spanning set including their hits such as ‘Bleed America’, ‘Sweetness’ as well as some deep cuts such as ‘Blister’. Through the highs and lows, the band kept the crowd engaged and entertained right up to the end where they finished their set with their hit single ‘The Middle’. This song had the entire field singing and dancing which is a perfect end to what is only the beginning of 2000 Trees.

As a whole, the day couldn’t have gone much smoother for the returning festival! We’ve seen many festivals struggle to hit the ground running since the pandemic however the crew at 2000 Trees have nailed it allowing each and every fan to enjoy the event right from the off without any hiccups or problems. Here’s to an even better Friday!
