The underworld has become known for showcasing some of music’s most eccentric and more out their kind of acts so i couldn’t think of a better venue for Cassyette to bring her unique style of music. She took over the iconic Camden Town venue with support from Bambie Thug and AlienBlaze so here’s what went down.
Opening the night was AlienBlaze who wasted little time enchanting the crowd with her simplistic grunge music. Repetitive lyrics allowed the fans to start to sing along as soon as they knew what was coming. Fans particularly got behind the track ‘Hate Me’ by sharing both their voices and their dance moves to show just how much they were enjoying it. As a whole, her set was unique and captivating. Can’t really ask for much more than that.
Following that was Bambie Thug and I have to say, she knows how to make an entrance. Something that also caught me by surprise was just how many people in the packed room already knew nearly every word to each of her songs. Bambie Thug entranced the crowd with her energetic and sporadic charisma. Striking pose after pose, the fans in attendance were fixated on the performance with ‘P.M.P’ being the stand out track from the entire set.
After what had already been an action packed evening, it was finally time for Cassyette who wasted little time getting the crowd going as she opened with ‘Like That’ before launching straight into the fan favorite ‘Dear Goth’. Pit’s were going, fans were screaming and the band looked like they were having the time of their lives.
Cassyette may not have years of songs to choose from however, her set felt jam packed with anthems and high intensity beats. ‘Petrichor’ had nearly everyone in attendance grooving along to it’s bouncy rhythm, while new single ‘Mayhem’ showed just how devoted her fans are – considering the single was released on the day of the show – as each and every word was being sung right back to her. Closing the set was the angst filled ‘Prison Purse’ which was followed by an encore of ‘Dear Goth’ getting a second showing. Despite the song already being played, the fans went just as hard, if not harder the second time.
There’s very little left to say about the night. This show had one of the most diverse young crowds I have ever seen. From hard core metal fans to more pop esc fans, Cassyette is breaking barriers with her cross genre style and it’s clearly working. The support was welcomed with open arms and the headliner had the crowd in her hands all night long.
