Hawxx has had one hell of a year already and what better way to capitalise on all the excitement than a single launch show at Camden’s Black Heart just before the band takes to the stage at Download’s 20th Anniversary! The event was hosted by Copper Topp and had support from both Death Goals and BEX. Here’s what went down in the heart of Camden Town!

Kicking the night off right was the extremely animated BEX! Her unique sound fit perfectly for the crowd in attendance and within no time, the room had its first pit of the evening going. BEX would use her eccentric nature to captivate the audience as her natural charisma elevated her already impressive set. From demonic esc eye-rolls to getting in the thick of it with the crowd, BEX kept her foot down on the accelerator and her set would ultimately end with her flat out on her back while the adoring crowd roared in approval of what had just unfolded!

BEX

“Queer Chaos” was how the elegant Copper Topp introduce Death Goals and that was the perfect description. Their extremely aggressive blend of deathcore came out swinging and unsurprisingly the room was eager to throw down to the chaotic beats being played down. This set had a ton of attitude and once more, the band couldn’t help but get stuck in themselves, throwing themselves into the pit for a memorable yet cathartic moment. Brutality comes in all forms and Death Goals are a shining example of that!

After a short story of how Copper Topp met the members of Hawxx at a drag brunch, it was finally time for them to take to the stage. Their excitement was visible from the off and that only transformed into beautiful mayhem once their set got going. Dressed the part, the band ensured they were giving this set their all as they unleashed a barrage of heavy-hitting tracks onto the Camden faithful. Not wanting to be left out, the band constantly found themselves amongst the fans to unleash more chaos as their set went on. Their rebellious message echoed throughout The Black Heart and despite being extremely sweaty, not a single soul left unsatisfied!

If this is what the future of metal has in store for us then I’m strapped in for the ride! Hawxx were exciting, captivating, and charismatic with a real devotion to the music they were performing. They didn’t seem like they where doing this as a job, you could see the passion behind their eyes as they laid waste to The Black Heart. Keep these guys on your release radar over the coming months!
