Camden is one of the most infamous places for its diversity and music alike so it comes as no surprise that some of the more extreme bands love coming to the town. Ingested finished off their UK tour in the famous Underworld venue after several delays and a lineup change due to complications caused by the pandemic. Bound In Fear, Acranius and Bodysnatcher were the final support bands on the bill and the night promised to be one to remember. Here’s what went down!

Opening proceedings was Bound In Fear, an exciting yet uncompromisingly heavy band who packed a punch live. Fans wasted little time before turning the floor into a volatile pit full of crowd killing and aggression. The band themselves put on an unrelenting set that only fueled the fire brewing inside The Underworld. From rapid riffs to hypnotizingly heavy breakdowns, Bound In Fear wanted to make a statement on this jam-packed lineup and I believe everyone in attendance can agree that they did just that

Following them was German metallers Acranius who came storming out the gates with their unique blend of death metal. It’s safe to say that the fans were excited to see these guys as the room instantly became a carnival of carnage. A noticeable increase in excitement around the room allowed the band to really come into their own and by the midpoint of their set, they had the fans eating out of the palms of their hands. What followed was an onslaught of brutal riffs and a barrage of blast beats to keep the crowd captivated.

The next band flew all the way from the states to be a part of this tour, and Bodysnatcher received a hero’s welcome from the London faithful. Unfortunately, their set was put on hold after technical issues appeared during the first track which kind of threw a spanner in the works. Thankfully the issue was not terminal and as soon as the band got going again, they went full speed ahead. Limiting how much time they spent talking to try and squeeze as much of their set into the allotted time, the fans ate up every last thing thrown at them. The crowd was well and truly ready for what was to come next.

No introduction is needed for Ingested as they have been one of the faces of the UK Slam scene for years now. As the lights went out the anticipation hit boiling point and to the surprise of no one, as soon as the first notes dropped, the room exploded. Crowd surfers, moshers and general fans alike had been waiting for this moment for years and it did not disappoint. Producing a set full of newer material and older fan favourites can sometimes be hard however, Ingested got the blend spot on this time.

It’s hard to really pick out moments of a night that was as action-packed as this show was, however, the performance of the new track ‘Rebirth’ went down exceptionally well. Fans bellowing the words back to the band will never get old and when the song is a fairly recent release, it makes it that much more special. Nothing quite topped ‘Invidious’ however as the crowd didn’t hold anything back with the entire floor basically becoming one massive mosh pit!

Overall, Ingested has proven once again why they are one of the standout names in the scene with a live performance to be remembered. The band’s evolution has just allowed them to show off more and more of their strengths as they have evolved as musicians. If you get the chance to catch these guys live you will not be disappointed.
