Lake Malice may have been a band that you have heard of from their extremely extensive run of shows supporting the likes of Skindred, As Everything Unfolds, and Bloodywood – as well as numerous festival appearances. It was only a matter of time before they went on their first run of headline shows and The Black Heart in Camden would mark their first London headline show and it was SOLD OUT! Hereā€™s what went down.

Opening the night was the exciting prospect Tropic Gold. a hardened four-piece that brought an exciting new sound with them. From chilling vocals to a sudden heaviness filling the room, the band’s set was crisp and smooth. Constantly encouraging fans to loosen up, Tropic Gold would inevitably have the room moving for the first time with people from the front to the back showing their appreciation for the music being laid out.

As the venue hit capacity, Lake Malice would take to the stage to the chaos that is known as ā€˜Magic Squareā€™. The room instantly exploded with excitement and the mosh pit crew came out swinging from beat one. ā€˜Power Gameā€™ followed by ā€˜Black Turbineā€™ only added fuel to the already immense fire and the fans clearly were there to party! ā€˜Bloodbathā€™ brought the tempo up with groovy intent while ā€˜Creepersā€™ provided a well-deserved ā€œFUā€ to all those who think itā€™s acceptable to objectify and mistreat women for the way they look or dress!

ā€˜Mitsukoā€™ brought a heavier groove into the equation and two unreleased songs titled ā€˜Providenceā€™ and ā€˜Eternal Decemberā€™ would make a lasting impression on the London crowd. Just to entice the crowd even more ā€˜Stop The Partyā€™ would result in total chaos as fans surfed on a giant inflatable pizza and moshed with blow-up seagulls.

ā€˜Blossomā€™ would be the final track of the set until the crowd cheered for one more song! Black would emerge with a comical wig and Alice would explain that they ā€œDidnā€™t have any more songs but we have a Magic Squareā€ before unleashing the song that kicked this all off once more for one final bit of carnage!

Sometimes itā€™s the newer bands who leave a lasting impression on you and Lake Malice may be one of the most exciting bands coming up the alternative music scene at the moment! Their sound is unique to them and their energy on stage rivals some of the best live acts out there. They have already announced a tour for next year so do NOT miss your chance to see them!
