Live Review: Lorna Shore – UK Tour 2022 – Electric Ballroom

If you’re a part of the metal community chances are you have probably heard about Lorna Shore recently. Their meteoric rise has been helped with the release of the single ‘To The Hellfire’ matched with a lot of social media buzz. It’s very rare that a show gets upgraded more than once, but Lorna Shore managed to get their London show upgraded 4 times, going from a capacity of 250 to 1500 and still selling out. The band brought along Cabal and Distant as support. So here is what went down at the Electric Ballroom when Lorna Shore took over.

Cabal opened proceedings and the room was already packed. Their set went down quite well with fans starting to mosh to their death metal rhythms. The band didn’t let the size of the crowd faze them as they unleashed a wave of heavy riffs and tortured vocals upon the London crowd. Both ‘It Haunts Me’ and ‘Death March’ went down exceptionally well with the fans in attendance and Cabal did a great job of getting the night off to a flying start.

Following them was Distant and boy did these guys go down well. Crowd surfers matched with frenzied moshing was a common theme during their set and the band really grew into their element as they progressed through their performance. Gutturals blended with chugging riffs and blast beats were exactly what the fans wanted and Distant delivered. A nice touch was the inclusion of the track ‘Zeroten’ which saw the band bring out Ben Mason of Bound In Fear and Harry Davies of Drifted to lend their vocals to the beast of a track.

As the dust settled, the hellfire rose as Lorna Shore opened their set with the behemoth known as ‘To The Hellfire’. Will Ramos took the metal world by storm with his ungodly gutturals on this track but a lot of people wondered what it would be like live. Well, I’m here to tell you they are just as good if not better in person! As you would expect, the crowd exploded as soon as this song dropped and the majority of the floor was one huge mosh pit. Continuing through their set, they played both ‘Of The Abyss’ and ‘…And I Return To Nothingness’ to finish off their EP and it became apparent that fans really liked the songs off that record.

Believe it or not, Three Songs isn’t quite enough for a headline set so London got their first taste of Lorna Shore’s older material with Will on vocals and it went down really well. ‘Death Portrait’ was the first number to come up and the intensity in the room stayed high. ‘King Ov Deception’ followed and kept the crowd bouncing before ‘This Is Hell’ sent the fans crazy. Plenty of crowd surfers for the security to deal with matched with pure chaos in the pit is exactly what I expected from a Lorna Shore show and I wasn’t disappointed. Closing out the set was ‘Fvneral Moon’ before the band came back on the stage to send the fans home with ‘Immortal’.

Not many deathcore bands have managed to captivate the community quite like Lorna Shore have and with the quality of their live performance, I have a feeling that the only way is up for these guys. I highly recommend trying to catch these guys at the next available opportunity because they know how to put on a show!
