From going viral on Tiktok to selling out her entire UK run, Maggie Lindemann is quickly becoming a hot asset in the alternative music scene. Despite starting her musical journey in the pop realm, she has quickly adopted a much more angsty sound and it’s propelled her to that next level! Calling on the support of Cellar Twins and Beauty School Dropout, her residency in London’s O2 Academy Islington was one that was shaping up to be one for the history books! Here’s what went down.

Cellar Twins

Opening the night was Cellar Twins, an alternative rock group residing out of Namur, Belgium. The band’s attitude was spot on from the off and their music spoke volumes to the eager sell-out crowd! Delicate melodies mixed with palm mutes and dominant percussion had the room moving in a matter of moments. Despite being quite a different style from the rest of the lineup, Cellar Twins captivated the audience while staying true to their more attitude-driven sound. An extremely impressive set is exactly the right way to start a special evening.

Beauty School Dropout

Not wanting to be upstaged, Beauty School Dropout took to the stage and unleashed a barrage of high-tempo bangers! By far the most energetic band of the day, the LA Rebels dominated the sold-out venue as if it was their own headline show! Peace signs and jump poses littered their set as they enchanted the London faithful under their pop-punk spell. After a handful of songs, the entire room could be seen moving along to the infectious melodies being played down by the band and when it came time for the final song, Beauty School Dropout had not only warmed up the crowd, they’d warmed their hearts as well!

Everyone was always excited to see the headliner but this night felt different. The atmosphere in Islington Academy was one of pure bliss and as Maggie Lindemann took to the stage, the entire room couldn’t hold it in any more. ‘Take Me Nowhere’ opened proceedings and it was clear from this point that the crowed would be rivalling the volume of the band the entire night. Maggie would strut the stage with elegance and grace at times while also not being afraid to unleash her angsty side when needed.

Stand-out tracks from this set where the likes of ‘Knife Under My Pillow’, ‘Loner’ and ‘Novicanine’ all say extreme emotional reactions from those in attendance. The entire night was full of happy treats, sing-a-longs and good vibes which were only amplified by Maggie Lindemann’s empowering speeches that sent shockwaves through her faithful crowd. Some bands have a way of connecting with their audience’s and Maggie seemed genuinely in synch with how her fans were feeling and knew exactly what they wanted. Her set closed out with an explosive performance of ‘Gaslight!’.

Maggie Lindemann has the capability of being the next big thing, her blend of more punky music and her knowledge and experience of the world of pop is a recipe that could take her further than most dream of getting. Adding an impressive live show to her inventory only up’s her market value. Don’t be surprised if she is selling out much larger venues on her next venture!
