Movements at Academy Club Manchester was an exciting and lively show. After having to miss their Manchester show last tour they clearly wanted to make it up to fans, and supported by Webbed Wing and Soft Cult, they really did.

Soft Cult

Webbed Wing kicked off the show enthusiastically with a heightened stage presence despite not being known by many. They were clearly happy to be there and a good introduction to what was going to be a very lively show.

Soft Cult definitely followed up with an amazing atmosphere that filled the room. The strong messages, speaking out against societal issues such as misogyny throughout their set, had the crowd in agreement that change is long overdue within our society. As a band they had amazing chemistry which emphasised the inspired nature of vocals paired with the subtle drums and guitars.

Movements bursted on to stage with an extreme amount of energy and charisma, making it known instantaneously that they were going to put on a show to remember. Starting with ‘You’re One of Us Now’ of their latest album ‘RUCKUS!’ they brought an energy that they kept for the rest of the show and the crowd couldn’t get enough. There were fans crowd surfing over the bar instantly, enjoying the show to the absolute fullest.

‘Lead Pipe’ got everyone jumping, arguably more so than their opening song, before bringing it back to with their older songs ‘Full Circle’ and ‘Colour Blind’ which obviously made the crowd wildly nostalgic, bringing the energy through the roof.

They made the crowd promise to get down to the new stuff as much as the old stuff and that was a good trade off. The mosh pit was huge throughout the new releases and the classics, filling the majority of the basement room.

Ending with the obvious choice ‘Daylily’, Movements closed the show with an atmosphere which would surely be a staple of their tour.
