In honour of the 10 year anniversary of their first two EPs ‘Rain In July’ and ‘A History Of Bad Decisions’, Neck Deep put on a small number of intimate shows to replicate their first shows as a band. They have not forgotten how to play a small venue as they had the crowd ecstatic as they played the entirety of both EPs.
Front man Ben Barlow brought the energy, encouraging crowd surfers to get on stage and sing with him, something that they can’t do much of at their usual shows as they have grown a lot in popularity over the course of the past 10 years.
‘All Hype No Heart’ was a particular highlight as a fan favourite that they rarely play anymore, with Matt West – the guitarist – delivering some heavy vocals for the pit to lose their mind to.
The fire alarm went off, ironically, just as ‘Up In Smoke’ was about to be played. It was dealt with quickly and smoothly by the venue staff and thankfully there was no evacuation needed. Ben Barlow kept the crowd entertained and engaged while the problem was dealt with before ramping the energy back up to continue with the set.
After playing both EPs they played some newer tracks to finish the set such as ‘STFU’ and ‘Take Me With You’ before ending with fan favourites ‘December’ and ‘In Bloom’. All of which they played excellently and with complete energy despite already playing for over an hour.
Safe to say no matter what venue, big or small Neck Deep still know how to put on a show for all fans, new and old to enjoy.
