What’s better than one awesome band playing a headline set? Two awesome bands playing a headline set! Vigil of War and Haunted By Silhouettes took over Camden’s Black Heart for an evening of rebellion and chaos. Here’s what went down in the beating heart of London’s alternative music scene!
Voodoo were first to take the stage and they brought a fairly decent crowd along with them. Their early yet powerful music echoed around The Black Heart and within a couple of songs, they had the room grooving along to its unholy melodies. Their charisma made them extremely likeable and in favour, the crowd got right behind them. A mix of demonic esc growls and the occasional majestic clean vocal worked extremely well to provide a breath of fresh air into their sound.
Up next was the brutally heavy Haunted By Silhouettes and they kicked things off on an extremely heavy note. Their energy was contagious and within no time, the room was headbanging along to their blistering beats. Bringing the pain all the way from Norway, the band unleashed an unrelenting set of heavy hitters that had The Black Heart sweating from head to toe. Crowd interaction was a big part of this set as the band members constantly entered the crowd and encouraged movement and controlled chaos. Not a single soul who witnessed this set left unsatisfied and maybe the only thing haunting them will be the fact they have to wait to see these guys again!
When the time had come for Vigil Of War to take to the stage the venue was packed. This clearly resonated well with the band who in favour delivered a set full of passion and charisma. The band mentioned throughout their set how excited they were to finally be able to tour the UK again, and you could see the excitement on their faces as they performed to a packed Black Heart! My stand-out moment of the entire night has to be how well ‘Spoon Fed’ went down. The band sounded crisp and clear and the venue was absolutely bouncing to this track. There is a reason this song has quickly become the band’s most streamed track to date and it hits that much harder live!
As a whole, this night was something that both the bands who played and the fans who attend won’t soon forget. Vigil Of War really made The Black Heart feel like a much larger venue and their overall performance belongs on a much bigger stage. I cannot wait for their next voyage across the pond and you best believe I will be there to capture the entire thing once more!
