Hideous Divinity is back with their first taste of new music since 2019âs âSimulacrumâ in the form of a 3 track EP titled âLV-426â. The band have made quite a name for themselves in the underground death metal scene and will be hoping to continue their momentum with the new release so without further adieu, here are my thoughts on Hideous Divinityâs âLV-426â
The EP starts with âAcheron, Stream of Woeâ. If your a fan of heavy as hell music, this is exactly what you need. Machine Gun like drumming accompanied by absolute filth from the guitars just makes this song something to behold. I couldnât help but find myself glued to the inhumane pace of the blast beats that are littered throughout the track. That sure is one way to kick things off!
Continuing the all-out assault is âChestburstâ by god, does this song slap! Brutal breaks and ear-piercing gutturals are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this track. Sometimes when a band goes at the pace Hideous Divinity has chosen, the song feels excessive however, the band have hit the sweet spot right on the head and it culminates in a behemoth of a track!
The third and final track âDelirium Triggerâ actually starts of alot tamer with the pace lowered and a higher focus on a deep melodic phrase taking over. This contrast actually works really well and once it transitions into more of an all-out assault of noise again, the essence created by it remains. This is a great example that the band are able to do more than just âPlay Fastâ and is a reassuring change.
Despite being such a short EP, Hideous Divinity has completely blown me away with their ability to produces some of the best technical death metal Iâve heard in a while. Nothing but sheer intensity and quality are on show throughout the entire EP and itâs left me eager for more from the band!
