EP Review: The L.I.F.E. Project – The L.I.F.E. Project

Josh Rand of Stone Sour and Casandra Carson of Paralandra have joint forces for a brand new collaborative project titled The L.I.F.E. Project. The newly formed group are unleashing their self-titled EP under Bloodblast Distribution. Both Josh and Casandra have tons of experience when it comes to rock music, so I think this EP will be a blast to review. Here is my review of ‘The L.I.F.E. Project’.

Opening track ‘Ignite’ brings the rock’n’roll vibe early on and it’s a well-worked piece. Canada Carson’s vocals bring a lot of flavour to the track while Josh Rand’s solo in the latter stages of the song is powerful and pleasant to listen to. It’s a strong opening to the album which is further amplified by ‘Purgatory’. Starting with a marching band esc feel before unleashing a hard-hitting rhythm that will have most listeners banging their head along to its solid beat. If there’s one way to kick off an EP, this is it.

‘The Nothingness’ follows and it’s a decent track that boasts an interesting instrumental that allows the song to flow nicely. My only gripe with this track is that it feels slightly dialled down to everything else that is featured in the release. I feel like it lacks a bit of the oomph that was present on the previous two tracks.

Drawing nearer to the end of the EP and the penultimate track ‘Worthwhile’ opts for a softer style to what has been on display thus far. The change of style suits the band perfectly and I feel that they are going to shine when it comes to more ballad esc tracks. Something about this song just makes it stick in your mind more than the rest of the EP which is why I cannot recommend this track enough! Finishing of the record is the more hard-hitting and in your face track ‘A World On Fire’. A highly energetic track that showcases Josh’s ability to create magic with riffs. Highly infectious phrases are littered throughout this piece and Casandra’s dominant voice helps tie the song together.

I think this release is the start of something special for The L.I.F.E Project. There is a lot of potential on display here and with the experience on display from both Josh and Casandra, it would be crazy to think this project isn’t going far. Make sure you keep these guys on your radar as I doubt they will disappoint!
