Zebrahead is one of those bands who seem to be everywhere all of the time so it’s always a pleasure when they drop some new material to pack into their live shows. ‘II’ is their latest EP that looks to widen their discography even more. Here are my thoughts on the release!
Opening the EP is the explosive ‘No Tomorrow’. A track that packs a punch and has as much attitude as a rebellious teenager! Boasting an infectious beat matched with a catchy chorus, this song perfectly captures the Zebrahead formula and will undoubtedly set off hundreds of pits during their chaotic live performances! Following that is ‘Licking On A Knife For Fun’ and as the title would suggest, this track is living life on the edge and unloads a barrage of aggression. This is one of those tracks that could break down a wall on its own as it is extremely to the point and there is no mistaking the message of this one.
‘Evil Anonymous’ is up next and this song is a total fever dream. One of the most bouncy songs I’ve heard in a while, this track will undoubtedly have you dancing around your room like you’re in the middle of a movie dance circle! One for all you moshers next, ‘Middle Seat Blues’ is one of those tracks designed for throwing it down in a safe manner. The drumming in this song is so powerful that your neck may need to be iced after getting ambushed by this one. Closing out the EP is ‘F.L.F.U.’ which may be the perfect song for you if you’ve recently suffered a broken heart. Angsty and angry may be the best recipe for a breakup song!
This EP is certainly just more Zebrahead and I love it. The band have not tried to change their winning formula and it has once again paid off. They are masters at what they do and this release is no different!
