Last month As I Lay Dying’s frontman Tim Lambesis sustained burns to 25% of his body. The frontman has now given an update revealing that his ‘face’ and ‘man parts’ did not get burned.
Announcing his accident last month, Lambesis posted to Instagram saying “Keep your head up no matter what! I’m doing the best I can to make a thumbs up on my way to surgery (in about 30 minutes).”
“I apologize to my friends that I have not had the time to fill in yet on what happened. The entire gas cap fell off when trying to use a little from the trickle tip to get a bonfire started. Gas got all over my clothes and I ended up burning 25% of my body.”
“I’ve been in the hospital since Saturday night, and I will be here for a couple more weeks most likely. Today’s surgery is to remove the remaining dead skin that we were unable to scrub off during dressing changes this week. It will be for the best so that we won’t have to scrub so hard during dressing changes, and that is a big relief for me. I am extremely thankful for the Burns center workers who are taking care of me.”
Tim has now posted an update to his instagram, saying “Hey everybody, I wanted to give a recovery update, Today actually marks the first day in a little over three weeks that I’ve been out of bed for most of the day. And yesterday was actually the first day they changed my dressings without having to scrub my wounds. That’s a huge relief because scrubbing my wounds is by far the most painful part of the recovery process.”
He continued “I’m very, very thankful my face did not get burned. And for whatever reason — it’s a very common question, so I should let you know — my man parts did not get burned.” *Phew!* that’s a relief…
“I did lose 20 pounds from being stuck in bed for three weeks. And I do have shakes, as you can kind of see, from my nerves reconnecting. It’s not really something I can control quite yet, but I will get it all back together. And I just am very, very thankful for everybody that wrote me.”
The frontman reunited with his band in 2018 after being released from prison in 2016 for plotting to kill his estranged wife. In 2017 he posted a statement to the bands facebook page where he said “words cannot begin to express how deeply sorry I am for the hurt that I have caused. There is no defense for what I did, and I look back on the person I became with as much disdain as many of you likely do.”
