The resurgence of vinyl sales has continued to grow throughout the pandemic with recent figures from the British Phonographic Industry revealing that almost one in every five albums sold in Britain in 2020 was purchased on the format. Thatβs 18% of vinyl sales in the UK.
2020 was also the 13th consecutive year in which vinyl sales increased, with sales of records being similar to vinyl sales in the early 1990s.
Today The Official Charts Company have revealed the Top 40 best-selling albums on vinyl in the UK in 2020. The new list features many rock artists including classic albums like Fleetwood Mac – Rumours, Oasis – (Whatβs The Story) Morning Glory?, Pink Floyd – The Dark Side Of The Moon, Nirvana β Nevermind and more.
The list also featured many 2020 releases like AC/DC’s Power UP, Biffy Clyro’s A Celebration Of Endings, IDLES Ultra Mono, all three of which outsold the rest of the top 5 combined in their respective release weeks. AC/DC’s Power Up also became 2020’s fastest selling album of the year, making 62,000 chart sales. Check out the full list below:
