Citizen have released the second single from their upcoming fourth album ‘Life In Your Glass World’.
The new single ‘Blue Sunday’, which follows on from the band’s lead single ‘I Want To Kill You’, gives us a glimpse of the upcoming albums many different moods with it being led by a “smoldering bass groove” with Kerekes vocals, before unfolding into a swirl of atmospheric guitars and hazy synths
Talking about the new track, Vocalist Mat Kerekes said “The song came about once I wrote the bass and drums to the verse for ‘Blue Sunday.’ I sent it to the rest of the band and then we all got together to do the rest. Everything flowed naturally and it is one of my favorite songs on the record. It’s essentially about me never wanting to leave my house and although that makes me happy, it is bad for me in different ways.”
‘Life In Your Glass World’ will be the bands fourth album, and is due out on March 26 via Run For Cover Records. Guitarist Nick Hamm explained the creative freedom they felt writing the new track “I don’t have a lot of regret but there have definitely been times when we felt powerless during the band’s existence.”
“This time we really owned every part of the process. It’s easy to feel like you’re on autopilot when you’re in a band, but that’s not a good place to be this far into our existence. We consciously knew we wanted to break free.”
Adding “This is the first self-sufficient Citizen record. There was no pressure at all and moving at our own pace allowed the songs to be a little more fleshed out.”
