Paramount and MTV Entertainment Studios have announced the music television catalogue set to feature on their new Paramount+ streaming platform. The new streaming service is set to host ‘From Cradle To Stage’, a new six-part unscripted show with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and his mother, Virginia Hanlon Grohl.
The new series will be directed by Dave Grohl, and is inspired by Virginia’s book of the same name. The show will explore the relationships between prominent musicians and their mothers.
‘From Cradle To Stage’ was first announced back in 2018, though at the time no network was attached.
The new streaming service is also set to feature reboots of ‘Behind The Music’ and ‘Yo! MTV Raps’, as well as new MTV Unplugged performances.
‘Yo! MTV Raps’ was originally broadcast from 1988 until 1995 and took a look into the world of hip hop, whilst ‘Behind The Music’ ran from 1997 until 2014 and took a deep dive into the careers of artists.
“We are thrilled to re-invent some of our most storied and impactful music franchises, including Behind the Music and Yo! MTV Raps, for Paramount+,” said Bruce Gilmer, ViacomCBS President of Music, Music Talent, Programming & Events.
“In addition, we will partner with some of the biggest names across the music industry to bring exclusive and unique content to the platform, such as Dave Grohl’s Cradle to Stage based on his mom’s critically-acclaimed book, and many more to come.”
Elsewhere on the streaming service, Paramount+ is set to feature the recently announced Frasier and Real World reboots, as well as new Reno 911! and Beavis and Butt-Head movies.
The service will launch on March 4 as a rebrand of ViacomCBS’s existing streaming platform, CBS All Access.
