Foo Fighters Score Fifth UK No 1 With ‘Medicine At Midnight’

Foo Fighters have scored their fifth No 1 album, with their latest release ‘Medicine At Midnight’. Check out our review of the new album here.

As reported by OfficialCharts, the band managed to get 42,500 chart sales, of which 74% were physical copies on CD and vinyl. The album also managed to outsell its six closest rivals combined. 10,500 copies of the album were sold on vinyl this week, taking the band to No 1 in the Official Vinyl Albums Chart as well.

Celebrating the chart-topping position, Dave Grohl said “I would like to thank everyone for honouring us with this Number 1 record. After 25 years of being a band, it still kind of blows our minds that this could actually happen and we’re very grateful and very thankful.”

Adding “We can’t wait to get back there to see you guys, sooner than later, I hope! We’re ready – every day we’re one step closer. Thank you very much, it’s an honour to have this Number 1 record. See you soon!”

Foo Fighters now stand in line with a host of other legendary acts including Prince, Bon Jovi, The Police and Celine Dion who also have five Number 1 albums to their name.

The news comes after, it was revealed that the band were outselling the rest of the top 10 combined in the mid-week charts.

The new album is the band’s fifth chart-topping album, and their eleventh top 10 album on the UK charts. Previously the band reached UK No 1 with 2002’s ‘One By One’, 2007’s ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace’, 2011’s ‘Wasting Light’, and 2017’s ‘Concrete & Gold’.

Dave Grohl previously revealed that his daughter, Violet, provided backing vocals on the new album.
