British-Indian rocker Maya Lakhani has returned with her new self-produced second single ‘Walk Alone’. Check it out below.
Maya Lakhani has started making waves in British rock. The artist cemented her love for the genre from an early age, playing the likes of Rough Trade East, Isle of Wight Festival, New Blood Competition, and The Camden Assembly with previous bands. With all of this valuable experience, she soon began to flourish as a solo artist.
After bursting onto the UK music scene as a solo act, Lakhani quickly began to turn heads with her atmospheric sounds. Her debut single āThe Lineā received airplay from BBC Introducing, was featured on 3 Spotify editorial playlists, and received national UK airplay on Planet Rock with Wyatt Wendels & Radio X with John Kennedy.
Now, the artist is making her return with āWalk Aloneā. Emotional and electric, the single inspired by the current conversations that are happening around womenās safety, the culture of victim-blaming and the pure desire to walk alone as a woman without fear of attack or abuse. These deep injustices that women feel on a daily basis compelled Maya to write this song, harking to her own fears. Above fierce guitars and pounding drums, an anthemic refrain plays stating āAll I want to do is walk aloneā; a simple, but powerful statement.
Just like her previous single; Maya has written, recorded & produced this track entirely from her bedroom in lockdown, performing vocals & playing all the guitars. The song has already had its debut radio play on BBC Introducing, who described it as āAbsolutely stunning, haunting rockā. With remarkable song-writing capability, and a passion for the rock genre, Maya Lakhani is emerging as an exciting new artist who advocates for change.
