It might be coming to the end of year, but 2023 still has some last moment suprises up its sleeve, and ‘Muphoria’ is one of them. Opening this week, the new, and London’s first, permanent music art gallery has arrived, featuring works from Illuminati Neon, Michael Spencer Jones, David Corio, Maybury Guitars, and more available at launch!
Muphoria responds to the growing demand for music art and the increasing value of musical instruments as investments. The gallery displays and sells unique pieces from artists and musicians from around the world, all year round.
“Pop art has exploded in popularity in recent years, with music related artwork playing an increasingly large part,” Founder and Managing Director of Muphoria, Tom Lawes comments. “Similarly, art is currently outperforming all other sectors in the luxury investment market with year-on-year growth of 30%. Muphoria aims to bridge the gap between the music and art world, not just by selling music-themed art but by inviting musicians and artists to collaborate on new work and new musical instruments. Berwick Street in Soho is an ideal location for us, as historically it has been a hub for both musicians and artists, along with being the home to numerous record retailers.”
At Muphoria, visitors can discover and purchase music art from various artists, both established and emerging. The gallery showcases the intersection of fine art and music, and constantly updates its collection with new works and collaborations. Muphoria is located on Berwick Street, one of London’s most creative and historic streets.
The gallery also pays tribute to some of the most influential and beloved musicians in history, with artworks by various artists. These include knitted portraits of Yoko Ono and Brian Eno by Rod Melvin, and paintings of the Beatles, David Bowie, Pink Floyd and PJ Harvey by Cyan Dee and Luke Pantelidou.
Talking about the new gallery, Michael Spencer Jones said “A gallery specialising in music artwork is long overdue for central London and Berwick Street in Soho couldn’t be a more perfect location; not least because it’s where I did the cover photograph for (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?”
Muphoria is open Tuesday to Saturday (11:00 – 19:00), and Sundays (11:00 – 17:00), at 6 Berwick Street, London W1F 0PQ. For more details and updates on future collaborations, visit Muphoria’s website here.
