Skindred have announced the re-release of their second album ‘Roots Rock Riot’. The news comes after yesterday the band shared an acoustic cover of ‘Destroy The Dancefloor’, to their newsletter subscribers.
‘Roots Rock Riot’ originally released in 2007, the new re-release will be available on the 26th February 2021 (but you can pre-order now).
The album is to be released on vinyl for the first time, and all the vinyl formats from the initial pressing will come with a 7″ with ‘It’s A Crime’ (previously Japanese release exclusive) and ‘Struggle’ (previously unreleased). The CDs will also contain both of those tracks and will also feature the acoustic version of ‘Destroy The Dancefloor’.
Three different vinyl colours are to be released including a Tri-colour (green, yellow, red) which will be a skindred webstore exclusive, a transparent orange which will be an indie stores exclusive, and a transparent green version. You can pre-order the release now here.
Talking about the release, frontman Benji said “I am not one of those people who cheers when they’ve finished a record. But I’m always thankful to get to make my art, blending contemporary British music and Jamaican music, with my friends. On Roots Rock Riot I think we did that excellently.”
Going on to say “We’re really proud of the record. We had a hell of a lot of fun making it and it features some really important Skindred tracks.”
Adding “We hope you enjoy listening to this re-release as much as we enjoyed putting it together for you.”
