Following the UK Goverments reopening roadmap announced yesterday, that stated that large live events could be allowed to take place from June 21 (providing certain conditions are met), Slam Dunk’s Director Ben Ray has announced that the festival will now be rescheduled for September.

This is the third time the Leeds and Hatfield weekender festival has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Earlier in the month the Slam Dunk team confirmed that they were making back-up plans behind the scenes “If we have to move to later in the year, we will, but we are absolutely determined to not let you go another year without a festival, Please bear with us and we thank you for your patience.”

Ben Ray the festivals director has now taken to twitter to confim the festival will be postponed again writing “As we now have the clear guidance we needed, will be soon be announcing that Slam Dunk Festival 21 will be moving back from May to September. Thanks all for your continued support.”

UPDATE: The festival have now confirmed the new dates for the festival.

The new dates come with a statement that reads “We know that after the Prime Minister’s announcement last night, many of you will now be looking forward to returning to normal over the summer and getting back to enjoying gigs, club nights and festivals!”

“Whilst we welcome the news laid out in the roadmap, it does unfortunately seal the fate of Slam Dunk Festival not happening over May Bank Holiday weekend.”

“We predicated as much and have, of course, been working hard on rescheduled dates. So, we are very pleased to say that Slam Dunk Festival will now take place on:”

North – Saturday 4th September
South – Sunday 5th September

The statement goes on to say “All previously purchased tickets will be valid for the new dates. Hopefully moving back to September will allow enough leeway should there be any delays to the current roadmap. We are also very happy to say that the vast majority of the line-up will be coming shortly.”

“We want to thank you all for your patience, understanding and support in what has been a hell of a year. We can’t wait to get back to it!”
