Brighton based punk band snake eyes are set to release their debut EP, ‘skeletons’, on Friday. In anticipation for forthcoming EP, the band have today released their forth single from the EP called ‘listen’.
Talking about the album guitarist and vocalist Jim Heffy said “‘skeletons’ was basically my first proper shot at songwriting. I didn’t want to overthink or over-write parts. The objective was to make a record that’s fun but honest, written with a “shoot from the hip” attitude. As cliché as it sounds, being our first release I wanted ‘skeletons’ to really show the bare bones (no pun intended) of the band.”
Jim went on to talk about the recording process, describing it as “DIY”.
“We ended up making the record between my bedroom and Thomas’ attic as I wanted the EP to feel as DIY as the songs. It ended up being a pretty fun and personal process. It’s always great playing music but it’s even better when you get to do it with your best mates.”
The band manages to blend a mix of punk, hardcore, indie rock, and brit pop to create a fusion they refer to as “Grit Pop”.
