After releasing their first new music in 15 years, System Of A Down are continuing to raise awareness for the current events happening in their home country of Armenia, announcing a new special upcoming live stream event.
The livestream is set to raise money for the rehabilitation of the 1000 Armenian soldiers who have lost limbs with life-changing prosthetics.
Talking about why this is important, the band said “The freedom fighting soldiers of Artsakh and Armenia have suffered war crimes at the hands of Azerbaijan, later abetted by Turkey. Even after the ceasefire signed on November 10, 2020, those heroes wounded in the recent conflict remain in dire need of prosthetics, advanced treatment, and medical care.”
“We are hosting a fundraising livestream event in order to raise money to rehabilitate and outfit the nearly 1,000 soldiers who have lost arms and legs with life-changing prosthetic limbs. The funding will also benefit the introduction of groundbreaking laser therapy for the treatment of white phosphorous chemical burns and the reduction of scarring and agonizing pain. All proceeds from the livestream will be donated to this cause.”
The stream will feature a whole host of special guests, and will premiere the music video for their track ‘Genocidal Humanoidz’. The show is set to take place on January 30th, on the band’s YouTube channel and will kick off at 9am PST / 12pm EST / 5pm GMT.
The band’s previously released songs raised over $600,000 for The Armenia Fund.
