The life of legendary Metallica bassist Cliff Burton is being celebrated tomorrow – February 10 – on what would be his 59th birthday.
The bassist tragically lost his life in a bus crash at just 24 years old, but the achievements he made in that time are being honoured tomorrow on the annual Cliff Burton Day – Which this year will consist of an online event on Twitch.
The stream is set to kick off at 7pm PST / 3am GMT (the following morning), and will be hosted by film director Nicholas Gomez and will feature Spastik Children’s Fred Cotton and James McDaniel, Metallica roadie/Metal Church guitarist John Marshall, Vio-lence’s Sean Killian, and Metal Maria – formerly of Megaforce Records, who put out the band’s first two albums ‘Kill ’Em All’ and ‘Ride The Lightning’. The stream will be available at a later time on YouTube for those who can’t make the stream live.
“Join us for Cliff Burton Day 2021!” posted Cliff Burton Family on Facebook. “February 10 at 7pm PST. Hear live interviews with our special guests. The show will be available at a later date on YouTube for those of you in a different timezone.”
Burton was Metallica’s bassist from March 1983 until his death at the age of 24 in a tour bus crash on September 27, 1986. Back in 2018, Alameda County in California – where the bassist grew up – declared February 10 to Cliff Burton Day following a fan petition.
